With a mix of her own beautifully crafted music and jazz standards, silky vocalist and songwriter Lizzy Parks was the perfect opener to the 2006 Jerwood Rising Stars series, in an intimate late night gig.

A natural addition to the Jerwood Rising Stars programme, Lizzy's voice is infused with influences ranging from Ella Fitzgerald to Björk. She performs regularly with the cream of Birmingham's burgeoning jazz scene and if you're a fan of former Jerwood Rising Star, Chris Bowden, you may recognise Lizzy as his guest vocalist on the acclaimed Ninja Tune album, "Slightly Askew."

Comments and reviews about Lizzy Parks:

"soulful vocals"

The Guardian

"I have been listening to Lizzy for many years in Birmingham. Originally a sax player, she now focuses on her singing. I think she has a really beautiful voice and deserves to become one of UK’s top jazz singers."
